Terms of Service

These terms govern access to Documentello's websites, applications, hosting, and related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement or have any consent required by law. If you use Documentello for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization.

The service

Documentello provides tools for writing, organizing, publishing, searching, and exporting documentation. Features may include hosted documentation sites, custom domains, editor invitations, file storage, imports, reader feedback, and AI-assisted functionality.

You must provide accurate account information, keep access to your email account secure, and promptly tell us if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and for the people you invite to your sites.

Documentello and its licensors retain all rights in the service, including its software, design, branding, and other materials. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the service.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Documentello. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, transmit, and display that content only as needed to provide and secure the service and to follow your publishing choices.

You are responsible for your content and must have the rights needed to use and publish it. You must not upload or publish content that is unlawful, infringes another person's rights, contains malware, or violates our Acceptable Use Policy.

Published documentation is publicly accessible. Search engines, archives, and third parties may retain copies after you unpublish or delete it. You can export your content as Markdown and associated files using the tools provided in the service.

Subscriptions and payment

Documentello is sold as a recurring subscription for each site. The subscription includes all product features, the AI capacity and storage shown at checkout, and any trial described there. Additional AI and storage capacity can be purchased independently when available.

Prices, taxes, billing periods, trial terms, and renewal dates are displayed before purchase. We may use third-party providers to manage purchases, subscriptions, taxes, invoices, and refunds. These providers include Paddle. When a purchase is completed through Paddle, Paddle acts as the authorized reseller and merchant of record.

Unless cancelled before renewal, subscriptions renew automatically for the same billing period. You may cancel through the billing portal. Purchases through Paddle are also subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Refund Policy, including applicable withdrawal and refund rights. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

AI features

AI features may help authors write or help readers find information. AI output can be incomplete or incorrect and should be reviewed before it is relied upon or published. You remain responsible for decisions and content produced with AI assistance.

AI capacity resets monthly, including for annual subscriptions. When capacity is exhausted, affected AI features may pause until the next reset or until capacity is increased. Search and other non-AI features may remain available.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Documentello reliable, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, third-party failures, and events outside our control can affect availability. We may change the service when needed to maintain or improve it, preserve security, comply with law, or discontinue functionality that is no longer viable. If a change materially reduces a paid service, we will provide reasonable advance notice when practical and any cancellation or other remedy required by law.

Third-party services and links

Documentello may rely on, integrate with, or link to third-party services. We do not control their services or content, and their own terms and policies may apply.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Documentello at any time. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address non-payment, security risk, unlawful conduct, harm to the service or others, or a material violation of these terms. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated violation. After a subscription becomes inactive, its content remains available for export for up to one year unless you delete the site, the account is terminated for serious abuse, or we must remove the content by law. Keep your own exports when continued access to content is important to you.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Consumers retain all mandatory rights and remedies concerning the supply and conformity of digital services.

To the extent permitted by law, Documentello is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity. Our total liability arising from the service will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or to mandatory consumer remedies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without regard to conflict of laws rules. This choice does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections provided by the law of their country of residence. Courts in Slovenia have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service or applicable law changes. We will post the revised terms and update the date above. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the service or by email. You may stop using the service before the revised terms take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised terms.
